UBUD: ULTIMATE VEGAN FOOD & RESTAURANT GUIDE

Ubud is a vegan food heaven come true! In my food & restaurant guide I share my favorite spots from delicious fruity smoothie bowls for breakfast, nourishing salads or bowls for lunch, tasty savoury plates for dinner over raw vegan cakes or gelato for dessert - you name it and will for sure find it in Ubud!

After spending more than three weeks in Ubud during my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in September 2022 I had more than enough time to discover the vegan restaurants and food spots around beautiful Ubud! Of course my recommendations can’t cover all of the amazing places you can find around Ubud. However, I tried to share my most favorite spots so it’s a bit easier for you to choose from the vast amount of options.

What’s your favorite (vegan) restaurant in Ubud?
Is there any place which I missed on my list?
I’m looking forward hearing from you!

Lots of love,
Magda

Beautiful setting at the fully plant-based restaurant Moksa

My favorite 7 vegan food & restaurant spots in Ubud:

  • Alchemy (best for breakfast, lunch & dessert)
The fully plant-based Alchemy convinced me with it’s smoothie bowl and waffle bar. You can simply select the base and/or toppings and so create your very own delicious breakfast. Moreover, they even offer for example a full english breakfast - all vegan (see picture below). Also their raw cakes are amazing and you can check out their cute little shop for some treats.
Location: Jl. Penestanan Kelod No.75, Sayan

  • Moksa (best for lunch, dinner & dessert)
The fully plant-based restaurant is offering a vast number of vegan food options with a beautiful view over the surrounding nature. The quality of the plates was really high - we tried the raw pizza, tacos, fried mushroom, eggplant and selection of their favorite plates. We also really liked their raw cakes and dessert - if you can’t choose you can get a selection of their fav as well!
Location: Ubud II Kutuh, Jl. Puskesmas, Sayan

  • Zest Ubud (best for breakfast)
If you’re looking for the best place to enjoy a delicious smoothie bowl, search no more - I mean look at the picture below! Next to their delicious breakfast options, the fully vegan restaurant Zest offers a beautiful and chilled vibe where you can work from your laptop or read a bit. The ingredients are locally sourced and sometimes there’s even a live band playing at night!
Location: Jl. Penestanan Kelod Jl. Penestanan No.8, Sayan

  • Sayuri Healing Food (best for breakfast, dinner & dessert)
One of my favorite spots to enjoy delicious and high-quality vegan food for sure is the plant-based restaurant Sayuri! Next to their standard menu they have one special dish per day (we came for the vegan lasagne on a Sunday). If you want to try a Kirtan this is also the place to go to - every Sunday Jeremy and his Band invite to a beautiful session incl. cacao ceremony.
Location: Jl. Sukma Kesuma No.2, Peliatan

  • Donna (best for dinner)
After out YTT we spoiled ourselves with a delicious dinner at Donna. The place is for sure not the cheapest one compared to other local spots. However, the quality and taste of their dishes was really really good! At Donna there’s a sharing/ tapas concept so that you can try a lot of different small plates - I loved the hummus & vegan meatballs with tomato sauce in particular!
    Location: Jl. Monkey Forest No.67

  • Usada Bali (best for breakfast, lunch & dessert)
If you are into ayurvedic food Usada is perfect for you. I tried a warm nourishing porridge bowl and we also spotted really massive vegan dosai at the neighbor table. There’s also a yoga shala on top, which we didn’t try unfortunately. We did, however, try their vegan and raw desserts which were really tasty! The place is a bit hidden and thus potentially a secret spot!
    Location: Jl. Sugriwa No.4, Ubud

  • Gelato secrets (best for ice cream - obviously)
Of course my Ubud food guide wouldn’t be complete without a gelato spot! Gelato secrets has several branches all over Bali and thus there’re also many of them available in Ubud. One of my favorite flavours was the vegan passion fruit and raspberry sorbet for sure, while my non-vegan friends went crazy for the honey-comb and peanut-butter gelato.
    Location: Multiple locations across Ubud
