Another fully vegan restaurant worth checking out in Canggu is Dua Hati serving innovative plant-based cuisine. Dua Hati is the perfect spot for a casual vegan dinner, or drinks with affordable prices. Some highlights from the menu include the vegan bolognese (I was craving for it for so long already before); the poke bowl with sushi rice, mango, and cashew cream; the burger made with a house-made patty of lentils, beans and mushrooms; and the raw vegan cheesecake for dessert.

  • Shady Shack
One of the best spots to enjoy a delicious vegan or vegetarian dinner in Canggu is the charming Shady Shack restaurant offering an incredibly inviting ambiance with an outdoor garden setting. The menu features an array of mouthwatering vegetarian and vegan fare made from fresh, organic ingredients. Some highly recommended dishes include the vegan lasagne, the nori bowl, and the coconut milk risotto with seasonal vegetables. Overall, Shady Shack is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable meat-free dinner in Canggu.

  • Healthy Ubud
If you were to ask me where I would most likely go for dinner the majority of the time during my stay in Canggu, then without a doubt my answer would have to be that charming little fully vegan restaurant healthy ubud. They serve up the freshest organic fare made from locally-sourced ingredients. I especially love their keto bowl and their homemade sushi (you can even have both with their dinner deal). Overall, Healthy Ubud is definitely my go-to spot for a healthy, filling, and delicious meal in Canggu.

best international restaurants with vegan/vegetarian options

  • Arte
If you’re looking for one of the (or the best?) authentic Neapolitan pizza around Canggu you need to head to Arte! The beautiful place has a super charming vibe and offers many plant-based cheese and topping alternatives. There is also Jazz night happening twice a week, make sure to book a table upfront as the popular restaurant can get pretty busy for dinner!

  • Zali
If you follow me already a bit longer, you know how much I love the Israeli cuisine/ food. Thus, I obviously had to check out the authentic Israeli restaurant, Zali, in Pererenan. My bowl consisted of creamy baba ganoush, delicious hummus, crispy falafel and fresh veggies as well as avocado. Really a great spot if you’re craving this type of cuisine (I do certainly almost every day haha).

  • Wonton Club
Looking for a spot with the best hand pulled noodles in Bali? Search no more and check out the delicious Chinese noodle restaurant Wonton Club. You can watch how they’re preparing the noodles fresh in the kitchen and their dumplings as well as spicy veggie sticks are super tasty! Also the vibe is very inviting with a cool interior and a nice bar.

  • Luigi's Hot Pizza
Where to go on a Monday night in Canggu? To Luigi’s Hot Pizza! First enjoy their (surprisingly) super delicious pizza (vegan/ vegetarian options available) before the tables are removed and the restaurant turns into a dance floor. Make sure to reserve a spot in advance as the place can get pretty busy especially on Monday nights. They also offer pasta and other dishes, however, I would really recommend the tasty pizza (and I’m quite picky when it comes to pizza).

  • Thai Kitchen Canggu
If you had enough of local Balinese food (and everybody does that after a while), transport yourself on a culinary trip to Thailand to this authentic spot. Thai Kitchen Canggu is a very low-key spot with minimalistic interior focusing on what they can do best: delicious Thai food. The prices are insanely low and the portions not only massive but super delicious. You can of course also find a lot of vegan and vegetarian options in their huge menu.

best fancy restaurants for a special night out

  • Sa Mesa
If you’re looking for a special dinner experience with tasty Italian food and a great atmosphere, Sa Mesa is your spot to go. Luca and his team are doing their best to make sure you have an unforgettable night. From their delicious food over the unlimited limoncello and in the end everyone dancing on the table - truly a night to remember. Make sure to reserve your spot either in their Canggu or Seminyak location in advance, as they can get fully booked pretty fast.

  • Smoke
This unique restaurant shall be high on your list if you’re seeking an unforgettable dinner experience with a super nice atmosphere. The menu ranges from meat BBQ to many vegetarian and vegan options as well - everything freshly made from their wood fired grill. We loved the smoked carrots, pumpkin and the BBQ tempeh ribs. Really a great experience!

  • Mason
One of the best dinners we had in Bali was for sure at Mason. From their amazing menu (so many vegan/ vegetarian choices) to their delicious cocktails and the super friendly service, everything was simply perfect. The whole experience is truly perfect and you will not forget your dinner at Mason I’m sure! If you’re in Uluwatu you can also check out their location there. (on another note, they also were caps with an M on them, which I would have loved to get, but they didn’t start their merchandising yet unfortunately haha).

  • Woods Pererenan
One of my favorite restaurants for a really high-quality meal, while not being too expensive is for sure Woods in Pererenan. The highlights of their menu include the delicious beetroot ravioli as well as many other fresh farm to table dishes. Also, their interior is beautiful with a small tea bar, wood (as the name states) everywhere and a lush green color concept in the restaurant.

  • Tickled Pink
This restaurant recently opened a bit outside of Pererenan and offers not only a stunning pool area with comfortable day beds (for now no min. consumption!), but also a really beautiful restaurant with a nice indoor and outdoor seating area. The mother restaurant is from Melbourne and you can really feel that the owners did their best to bring the high-quality restaurant experience all the way to Bali!

  • Azoria Canggu Restaurant & Bar
For everyone craving pasta and authentic Italian food while being in Bali (me!) Azoria is a great spot to check out. Their pasta menu includes also home-made fresh pasta and there are vegan and vegetarian options available. The beautiful interior combined with the very attentive service is creating a great experience for your night out.

  • Shelter Restaurant
This is probably the best restaurant (at the point of writing) in Bali. The Australian chef focuses on high-quality plates which are placed in the middle of the table for a sharing concept. You can tell them your food preferences/ allergies beforehand and they’re doing their best to adapt to your wishes and make an unforgettable experience. Make sure to reserve in advance, especially if you’re a bigger group (we celebrated my farewell dinner last winter there).

  • Bokashi
Located on the other side of the shortcut (crossing is a „love sign“ as we say in Canggu) Bokashi is a newly opened restaurant and organic health supermarket offering a high-quality menu for a special night out. The food and drink choices are carefully picked and change seasonally. They also offer a high tea where you can enjoy their sweet treats with a cup of tea for a lovely afternoon.

Further special night out food hotspots

  • Origen (Mexican)

  • Smoked (BBQ - also vegan tempeh ribs!)

  • Yema kitchen (especially for their lovely garden)

  • Hippie Fish & Sol (for sunset)

best spots for (vegan) treats, gelato & desserts

  • Ettore Gelato
If you know me well or follow me already since a bit longer than you probably already noticed how much I love authentic Italian gelato especially pistachio. Thus, I can spot high-quality gelato from afar and get quiet picky when it comes to ice cream. Ettore is probably my favorite gelato spot in Bali as they serve super fresh and delicious authentic gelato with great vegan options (they sometimes even have oat milk pistachio!!).

  • Mad Pops Bali
Looking for vegan ice cream? Then this spot is for you! You can enjoy their ice cream either in a cone/ cup or get their homemade popsicles which are also super refreshing and delicious. Their interior is also really cute and it’s simply a perfect dessert after maybe getting local authentic dinner at the nearby Warungs.

  • Dang! Cookies
Want to know where to find the best (vegan) cookies in Canggu? Dang Cookies is cueing your sweet tooth with their big variety of sweet cookies (which you could also enjoy with a cup of milk - obviously I don’t). Sometimes they even run out of their tasty vegan cookies, but I guess that’s a sign of how delicious and popular they are!

  • Dop Ice Cream, Dessert Bar
This dangerously good ice cream shop is currently located in two spots in Canggu and serves not only extremely delicious gelato but also brownies and other treats to cure your sweet tooth. Open until late, you can find tasty ice cream (only the pistachio did not fulfill my high expectations) and enjoy the ending of a beautiful night in Bali.

  • Bali Buda
Actually Bali Buda first seems like „just“ a healthy natural supermarket, while it is much more than that! One of my favorite treats is their superfood chocolate cake which is gluten-free and full of delicious healthy ingredients. You can also buy home baked bread and small gifts (I love their handmade soaps) in their cute little shop. They also have several locations all over the island so you don’t have to miss your favorite treat when traveling around Bali.

  • Samadi Sunday Market
Every Sunday, Samadi is hosting a cute little market with farmers and local producers offering their products. The best and most popular stand is for sure the one selling their home baked (vegan) cakes which are just a dream come true. So treat yourself to a delicious cake (or two) and enjoy the Sunday in Bali. Also there it s the Samadi Gelato Ice Cream store offering gelato every day and you can also find sweet treats in the Samadi supermarket.
